Services: The Arc of the Piedmont operates two Intermediate Care Facility/Mentally Retarded (ICF/MR) residential programs in Charlottesville and in Nelson County. Both homes have seven wheelchair accessible bedrooms. A total of 14 individuals can be served. An ICF/MR residence offers a much more structured daily program and has many more support services available to individuals than a Waiver-funded residence because it is assumed that the needs of the residents are much more intense. Individuals living in ICF/MR homes must participate in The Arc of the Piedmont's day activity program. An individual may also move from one program to another, but he/she would have to give up a Waiver slot to go an ICF/MR.
Program Hours: Office Hours - 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Mon. - Friday. Residential Services - 24 Hours
Area Served: Planning District 10
Eligibility: Adults age 18 and older with a primary diagnosis of a developmental disability or mental retardation desiring to live in a residential setting with others. Individuals may have physical limitations, as some homes are wheelchair accessible. Individuals must not be a threat to oneself or others and able to be supported by current staffing levels in a home. Individuals must qualify to be served in an Intermediate Care Facility for Mentally Retarded - ICF/MR.
Intake: Family and agency referrals are accepted.
Fees: Medicaid waiver.
