The Blue Ridge Apartment Council (BRAC), a non-profit organization, is the largest association of rental property owners in the Charlottesville, Virginia area. Section 8 Vouchers
Under this program, a person pays either 30 percent of his or her adjusted income, 10 percent of gross income, or the welfare assistance amount designated for housing. The certificate or voucher pays the remainder of the rent to the landlord. A very limited number of vouchers are available. Localities close their waiting lists periodically.

Mainstream Housing Vouchers
Piedmont Housing Alliance, in partnership with Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority and The Arc of the Piedmont, administers 75 Mainstream Housing Vouchers for people with disabilities. These Mainstream Vouchers are designed to provide rental assistance to residents of the Thomas Jefferson Planning District.
