Community College & Career and Technical Training Programs
These post-secondary training options are public programs. Private options are not listed here, but a full list of training providers for our area who are certified by the Workforce Investment Board is available.
Industry Certification: Under the Governor's Senior Plus Initiative, students may take free college courses in order to obtain industry certifications. Eligible students must:
- graduate with a standard or advanced diploma
- have not achieved industry certification (ex: EMT, CNA, Cosmetology or Nail Technician)
- have no plans for college

Work full time, get paid, go to school one night a week. Many times the employer will pay for your schooling. There are over 300 occupations that are apprenticeable, most are in the trades but there are a number of options, such as optician, surveyor... Apprentices make money from the start and get regular raises as their skills develop. A great option for students who would like to work full time and understand they need to continue to improve their skills.
